Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I use the desktop app instead of the web version?+
Privacy, control, and the satisfying thud of a real application in your dock. With the desktop app, your API keys stay on your machine. Your analysis data stays on your machine. We never see it, touch it, or even know it exists. If your organization has strict data policies — or you just prefer knowing exactly where your credentials live — the desktop app is for you.
Do I need all the API keys to get started?+
Nope. Just an OpenAI API key gets you in the door — that powers the core analysis engine, embeddings, and several AI platform queries. Add more API keys as you go (Anthropic for Claude, Google for Gemini, etc.) and your visibility picture gets more complete. Think of it like seasoning: start with salt, add the rest as your palate demands.
Does it work on Windows?+
Not yet, but soon. We launched on macOS first because that's what most of our early users run. The Windows build is actively in development and will support Windows 10+ (64-bit). Sign up for updates and we'll let you know the moment it drops.
How big is the download, and why?+
About 290 MB. Yes, that's bigger than it sounds. The app bundles a full local analysis server so everything runs on your machine without dependencies. Think of it less as a "download" and more as installing a complete AI visibility lab on your laptop. The tradeoff is size for self-sufficiency — and we'll take that trade every time.
How do updates work?+
The built-in analysis server auto-updates to the latest version every time you launch. For the desktop app itself, you'll get a notification when a new version is available. One click and you're current. No manual downloads, no hunting for update links, no "please restart 47 times" nonsense.
